suiseiseki: (X-Ray Goggles)
( Jan. 5th, 2011 04:17 pm)
After waiting since early December, I finally got the three Dollheart Fukubukuro bags I'd bought.  This is my second year trying out this little event, and I always come away with something nice.  I was pretty lucky all of the bags this year, but the SD Girl bag was definitely the best; my favourite item obtained was the purple and black dress piece from the Dark Rania outfit.  Sometimes Dollheart stuff is a tad small for Volks SD10 girls, but thankfully the lacing in the front was a little adjustable.

Of course, pictures were necessary.

Since I liked that dress so much, I was finally prompted to buy a pair of shoes for Lily that would match a bit better than the default brown boots from the Suiseiseki fullset.

I love the little buttons in the back and on top.

There are some other items that I from the Dollheart bags that are super cute as well, but some of them need matching items.  Once I get them, I'll post more pictures. My MSD girls certainly need some attention.

Speaking of MSDs, I am currently changing the look of my Rosette Fir completely.  She'd been in her fullset outfit, wig, etc for nearly a year.  I gave her a new face-up recently, but it didn't come out too well. Hopefully I will have time to practice before school starts again.

Surprise, another doll box today!

Usually when someone says that they'll ship something to me on a particular day, I take that with a grain of salt.  We all get busy, and I understand that sometimes more important things pop up for a day or two.  As long as the item is shipped close to the day mentioned, I'm fine with that.  I hadn't heard from the seller who said she'd ship the doll on Saturday or Monday, so I kind of assumed that something came up, and I would hear about a notification today.  But instead, when I walked out of my room today, there was a box.  :)

This definitely put me in a good mood despite a calculus final today!

I also just realized now that this doll is technically a Volks Shinshiya, not an F-12.  This doesn't really make a difference, since they're the same sculpt, but it's something I noticed because the wig and eyes were the same as the standard version that was available a long while ago.  This was quite a pleasant find since I like it when sculpts have actual names, and not just numbers, as silly as that sounds.

There aren't any of my own pictures at the moment, as I didn't have too much time this morning.  But, once finals are over, I'd like to give both Shinshiya and Heath new face-ups, and then there should be plenty of picture taking.  I also can't wait to get the eyes I bought for Shinshiya since they'll look much nicer than the ones she has at the moment (which give her a rather bush-baby sort of appearance).

Hopefully next time I update, it won't be such a rushed post...

This morning I awoke to a surprise doll-sized box in the post.

In mid-November, I finished paying off a Volks Heath I had on a short one-month layaway.  The seller was awesome and shipped the doll out a few days later (just before Thanksgiving).  Considering that the doll was coming from Belgium, I figured it might take a little extra time, but when two and a half weeks passed, so I contacted the seller and the post office.  The post office said that the package never arrived in the US, and the seller wasn't given any information.  Oh well, customs probably has it somewhere, I won't worry for now.

Surprise surprise, I walk out of my room this morning, and there's a box.  :D

I didn't have time to take any pictures, but at least he has an outfit for the most part.  The default face-up isn't nearly as bad in person, but I'll still be giving him a new one once finals are done later this week.  This doll was bought with the intention of being the friend of Lily from my previous post.  I was wondering how they'd look together in person, and luckily they are quite adorable together.  Can't wait until I get a better face-up on Heath though so that I can take pictures of them!

And on a completely different note, I finally sold a doll.  I'd bought a Fairyland Chloe Amethyst fullset back in August, which arrived mid-November.  As much as I loved this doll, she came at a very stressful time for me.  There really isn't much point in keeping something that carries baggage, so I decided to sell her.  Hopefully the next person will enjoy her more that I got to!

Maybe someday I'll buy this sculpt again, since it is a really gorgeous doll (and she photographs so nicely!).  But for now...well, Volks Charlotte has my attention.

From time to time, I am curious about fairly new sites like this, and so I felt inclined to sign up (okay yes, I like having a better choice of usernames).

I suspect that I'll be using this journal for my doll hobby, since I've tried other blog sites, and just haven't liked them all too much.  I do like LiveJournal, but considering I already have one paid account with added user pics (not to mention the rename token from the beginning), I really don't feel like getting all that for a journal I might not use as frequently.  Still, it's nice that I'll be able to connect with LiveJournal for the most part, and still use the same format.  We'll see though.  I'm usually pretty bad about updating my anything journal, never mind for something specific.  But who knows, maybe that will encourage me take pictures more often (since I generally like to add pictures to post in case what I say is of little interest to the reader).

But in an attempt to start a trend, I'll post my favourite picture that I have taken (yes, I know I tend to spam this one a bit).

Name: Lily
Doll:  Volks Suiseiseki
Face-up: Default
Eyes: Hand Glass Craft, D24, Dark Stone, 18mm
Wig: WigWing
Dress: cleric on DoA

Prior to taking this picture, I used to really dislike how this face-up normally looks in photographs.  But anyway, this is the crown jewel of my collection, and she is definitely my favourite.  :)
